Hunting
Wild boar / hog’s are rapidly growing in numbers in Turkey, there are no predators left to kill these animals anymore and due to the religion of the country the local people do not eat this meat so do not tend to hunt too much. These animals are destroying farmers crops, vegetation and animals and the numbers need to be reduced to help the farmers survive.
Probably one of the most exciting animals to hunt is Wild Boar / Hog. Chasing a big boar through the forest can really get the adrenaline running. However, it all isn’t just fun and games. Feral hogs are dangerous and they do an immense amount of environmental damage. They kill both native and domestic animals; they wallow in and erode water holes and they are always digging and rooting around in the soil for food they can find, they’ll eat anything & everything.
Although boars do not possess great eyesight, they have a keen sense of smell and very fiery attitude. In fact, they have a reputation for wanting to hunt you as much as you want to hunt them.
Combine this aggressive nature with the fact that boars have a very thick breast plate and many hunters find that they need multiple shots to take this animal down.
Hunting is done between August to April
To take part in this expedition you have to be experienced in hunting this is not suitable for first timers; you will need to possess your own weapon and have all relevant checks and paperwork before you travel. (Weapons can be purchased by you from Turkey)
